Harrison doesn’t have an overall diagnosis beyond being a French bulldog — an increasingly popular breed prone to health problems. While most patients pay out of pocket, AMC offers multiple initiatives to cover charity care, especially for rescue animals and working dogs. The price of veterinary services have increased in recent years because of inflation, but also because of advances in care. The same day Harrison visited the surgical suite, Lynx was brought in by a rescue group. “We get to take extraordinary care of rescue animals,” Spector said.

WASHINGTON (AP) — If some U.S. lawmakers have their way, the United States and China could end up with something in common: TikTok might not be available in either country. But while U.S. lawmakers associate TikTok with China, the company, headquartered outside China, has strategically kept its distance from its homeland. Since its inception, the TikTok platform has been intended for non-Chinese markets and is unavailable in mainland China. Some have insisted they be called “global companies” instead of “Chinese companies.”But for TikTok, this may not be enough. “America’s foremost adversary has no business controlling a dominant media platform in the United States.

Here are my strategies for reheating meals that taste just as good the second (or third) time around and eating every single portion of everything I cook. Turning to the microwave is often the first response when reheating leftovers, but it's not always the method that will give the most optimal results for most foods. These ovens can reheat food without waiting to preheat, and many offer convection, air frying or one-touch pizza options. What foods work best for microwave reheating? Foods that have a main liquid component, such as soups and stews, are a natural fit for microwave reheating.

Just 6 percent of all college students attend a school with an acceptance rate of 25 percent or less. 56 percent of these college students go to a school that admits at least three-quarters of its applicants. These statistics reveal a simple fact about affirmative action in higher education: It mattered very little for the majority of American college students. But because affirmative action only opened a tiny window of access to America’s most elite institutions, the ruling will make little difference for most college students.

As they got to know one another — “It was a little awkward because I’d been looking at him for six months,” Mr. Bittar said — Mr. Bittar explained that he was a single father. Mr. Bittar, who is gregarious and vocal, grew up in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. His father, Robert Bittar, is of Syrian descent and his late mother, Helen Bittar, was of Irish-Catholic descent; both were professors. Mr. Bittar began selling jewelry on the streets of downtown Manhattan as a scrappy teenager. “The differences are so obvious it’s kind of ridiculous,” said Todd Parmley, a software company executive who has known Mr. Bittar for more than two decades.

The average distance between the Earth and Sun measured using trigonometry is 93 million miles, not 3,000 miles as claimed in a viral post online. “At that time, Venus is measured to be about 30 million miles away, using two methods that agree: radar and a perspective effect (parallax) where you view Venus from different locations on Earth. Multiple measurements taken over the centuries during the transit of Venus using this method yield an average distance of 93 million miles between Earth and the Sun (here). More on the calculation of the distance between the Earth and Sun using Venus’ transit and trigonometry (parallax) can be viewed (here). The Sun is, on average, 93 million miles from Earth and the distance is calculated using trigonometric parallax.

CNN —Astronomers have detected a repeating radio signal from an exoplanet and the star that it orbits, both located 12 light-years away from Earth. The signal suggests that the Earth-size planet may have a magnetic field and perhaps even an atmosphere. The researchers believe the radio signal was created by interactions between the planet’s magnetic field and the star. How strong radio waves occurIn order for the radio waves to be detectable on Earth, they must be very strong, the researchers said. “This research shows not only that this particular rocky exoplanet likely has a magnetic field but provides a promising method to find more.”
